Wait, whats the catch?
Well, there really isnt any.
Since we use Home Assistant as our foundation, everything is open and available for modification. We do not lock the users into any sort of environment where the user does not have full control. On top of that, Home Assistant is one of the most active Open Source projects on the planet, making it ideal for future improvements and integrations your current and future smart home needs.
There is one thing you as the consumer should know
At SMARTi we want to be as transparent as possible. Nabu Casa, the foundation that enables the development and maintenance of Home Assistant, do provide the ability to add remote access to your home from anywhere in the world for a monthly fee. This fee goes directly to Nabu Casa and supports their development and support of the Home Assistant Open Source Project. You can subscribe to their remote support directly without going through us, but that requires that you set this up on your own. Since we are passionate about Home Assistant, every SMARTi Remote Access Subscription is managed through the Nabu Casa foundation and we take a small fee for managing it for you so that you don’t have to.

Side note:
It is possible to enable remote acces to your SMARTi installation without going trough Nabu Casa and their solution, but we feel that activly supporting an organization such as Nabu Casa and giving back to the community is the only way to help solve the issues that smart homes are facing. Therefore we will not be providing a guide on how to do this, but seeing how the SMARTi installation is completely open and modifiable, your are free to try it yourself.
